Deflamenco: about Esther Merino Pilo

Esther Merino was born in Badajoz in 1984. From a very young age she showed her interest in singing and was always surrounded by a family of good flamenco fans. At the age of 16 she began to go on stage and develop her flamenco singing. Among the numerous awards he has received in his career, what stands out is being a finalist for the 'Lámpara Minera' of the International Festival of Cante de las Minas in 2016 and 2017. In 2016 he was first prize for tarantas in 2016 and 2017. At the same time he was first prize by levantica and taranto 2016 at the Unionense Festival. Esther Merino has received the 'Golden Melon' award from the Lo Ferro Festival. Her main references have been Carmen Linares, La Paquera de Jerez or Antonio Mairena. She currently teaches classes at the flamenco school she owns in Gévora. She is a finalist in the 2021 International Cante de las Minas Competition.
